So here is the third and final newsletter of this season.
We have come to the end of the season, meaning the end to our first (half) season as a group. I hope you have all thoroughly enjoyed it as much as I have, and are looking forward to our first full season together starting in August. Of course there is still a chance to thank the boys one last time next week away to League One side Preston, and it would be great for as many of you as possible to give the boys the send off they deserve!
This last month has been a huge month for TYO and a very productive one. We have continued to sell scarves despite the rate of which we have done so slowing. This is probably down to the gorgeous weather we have had recently which has seen lots of yellow shirts coming out which is great! We do still have some scarves left which we will continue to sell next season, and most likely will have to order some more come the winter months. The sale of the scarves has benefitted us both by injecting colour to our displays, and financially, so thank you to everybody who bought one, and I hope you like it. If any of you are going away this summer, be sure to take it with you and get some pictures around the country and around the world as I will be doing in Lanzarote and Ibiza!
As you may have seen, we had a page in the programme yesterday which gave a basic introduction to the group with a couple of pictures from Leicester with TYO banner, ‘In Malky We Trust’ banner and TYO scarves. We have been told next season we will be able to have a page or two in the programme on a more regular basis which is a big step forward for the group as we continue to bond with the rest of our supporters.
The month has also seen our Facebook group grow to 550 members, and we have seen an increased level of support up in RS4 and at away games. On the topic of away games, Ross and the boys did us proud up in Leeds this month displaying some great support at Elland road, and also displaying the YO banner out of their hotel window, which overlooks the train station, so well done to them. We also successfully filled the coach to Leicester, meaning just fewer than 50 of us travelled up together, having some good banter on the way. Despite the result, our level of support was fantastic up there, and all in all it was a great day out! Due to the success of this event, we will be considering putting on more coaches next season for games that are harder to get to, but I must reiterate that it will not be for all away games.
As some of you are aware, we had a meeting with the club yesterday which Ross, Ollie, Roy, Sam and I attended. The topics that were discussed will take effect next season, and have the potential to really help our growth. The club are currently working on giving us a section in RS4 (165-180) which will be unreserved seating, and will accommodate approximately 100-150 people. We hope that this will put an end to any arguments regarding right or wrong seating, and more people will be able to join us without having to change their ticket. However, for those of you who were considering changing your season ticket up to RS4, I do advise that you still go through with that, as this is not 100%, and should it not happen, we will remain where we are. Another topic that was discussed was that of displays on match day. The club have agreed that we will look at the fixture list, and decide on which games we would like to perform certain displays, and they will help us by allowing us to get in early, and supplying us with resources to allow it to go ahead. The example used was that of card displays in the Rookery.
The close season can be very tedious, especially with no World Cup or Euro to cry about, so during this close season, how about you all join us at the London masters on the 9th July at Wembley Arena? The teams that we will be playing against include Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and QPR. Our team is very strong this year (Kevin Miller, Robert Page, Nicky Wright, Allan Smart, Marcus Gayle, Micah Hyde, Craig Ramage and Captain Tommy Mooney!). This is a great opportunity for us to meet, warm up for the new season, support some of our hero’s and have some top banter! Not to mention representing the club and promoting TYO.
Many of you will already be aware that TYO will be represented in the final Rookery End podcast this season after we asked a few of you which of Danny Graham’s goals this season was your favourite on our way up to Leicester. Some voice recordings which were taken will also be used in the podcast. So let’s support our friends from The Rookery End podcast and download the final podcast this season. They will also be covering the result of the ‘wear a vest’ day, and rounding up some of the best messages that were scattered around the ground.
Once again, thank you to everybody for making this such an enjoyable season, and for supporting the group! I hope you have all enjoyed what was a season that exceeded all expectations, which has also been very productive and a step forward for WFC. I am very much looking forward to seeing you all again next season, but for now, have a fantastic summer, enjoy the weather, and I hope to see many of you at the masters and at pre-season friendlies! Keep your ideas and opinions coming on the Facebook group and our forum @ www.theyelloworder.proboards.com.
